Roads and Traffic Authority
New South Wales, Australia
A single spatially configured interface allowing strategic traffic management throughout NSW.
Serco provides the design, supply, installation and maintenance of the Central Management Computer System (CMCS) for the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) of New South Wales.
The successful implementation of the CMCS from conception through to implementation has allowed the RTA to achieve outcomes such as:
- Improved network efficiency
- Reduced journey times
- Lessened driver frustration
- Greater safety
The system is part of the State’s advanced Incident Management System (IMS), and focuses on the complex road network within Sydney and its environs, Newcastle and Wollongong. It also enables strategic management of traffic throughout the NSW road network.
Additionally, Serco designed and developed a roadside processing system for the RTA, which provides traffic information and incident detection facilities for the State of New South Wales. The system interfaces to the CMCS within Sydney.
The CMSC has allowed the RTA to monitor and control their Roadside Motorway Equipment via a single spatially configured user interface.
This is a significant operational feature allowing efficient, coordinated responses to traffic incidents. In addition, all details of the incident and operator responses are recorded allowing post-event analysis and consequent further improvement in responses.
