Southern Queensland Correctional Centre is a 300-bed facility which caters for high and low security mainstream male offenders. The Centre is located at Spring Creek in Queensland's Lockyer Valley region and was opened in December 2011.

Southern Queensland Correctional Centre is wholly owned by the state and is managed by Serco under a five-year contract. It is one of just two privately operated prisons in Queensland.

Serco worked in partnership with the state government to transfer operations to Southern Queensland Correctional Centre after managing Borallon Correctional Centre for approximately four years. Borallon, one of the state's oldest facilities, was a 490-bed male, medium and high security prison located near Ipswich in Queensland. The prison was formally decommissioned in February 2012.
