Serco commenced its five-year Court Security and Custodial Services contract with the Western Australian Department of Corrective Services in July 2011, covering the state's major courts, prisons and police hubs. Key services are operating court custody centres, secure transportation of persons in custody to court and prisons, court security services, the management of persons in custody for their medical appointments, hospital visits and clearance of police lock-ups.

A number of innovations will see those in our care treated safely and securely. These include:

  • Delivering nationally accredited Correctional Practice training to all staff
  • Robust systems to identify, analyse, manage and mitigate risks
  • Performing regular internal audits across all locations
  • The Serco Escort Record System¬† for the safe management of people in custody, transparency of service delivery, and comprehensive security during the movement of people in custody.

Serco has engaged experts from our business in Australia and the UK as well as external specialists in areas including Indigenous needs, custodial operations and court security to ensure we provide a world class service.
