Justice
Managing people for positive outcomes
One of Serco’s main aims is to positively contribute to the communities in which we serve. Through our justice contracts at Acacia Prison, Southern Queensland Correctional Centre and Court Security and Custodial Services (CSCS) in Australia, and Mt Eden Corrections Facility in New Zealand we are achieving this objective every day.
Within our prison contracts our staff work to ensure that detainees leave prison as more skilled and more confident citizens who are better positioned to find work and productively contribute to the community. It is with this goal in mind that we have expanded and invested in our responsible prisoner model as well as numerous other education, training, rehabilitation and resettlement programmes for prisoners, with a particular focus on restorative justice, and community and social responsibility.
Rehabilitation, reparation and the re-entry of prisoners into society are at the heart of what we do.
Serco is committed to a decency agenda, treating prisoners with consideration and respect, and encouraging their development in rehabilitation.
Through our people’s dedication our prisons have received public praise and a number of awards for their innovative programmes and exceptional service offerings, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education and environmental sustainability.
In our CSCS contract we are responsible for the operation of court custody centres, securely transporting people in custody to court and to and between prisons, court security services and the management of persons in custody for their medical appointments and clearance of police lock-ups.
