BlueScope Steel

For over six years Serco has been providing protective services, fire maintenance and transport services to the leading Australia and New Zealand steel making company BlueScope Steel.

BlueScope Steel is located in Port Kembla, which is located approximately 100 km south of Sydney in the Illawarra region of New South Wales. The site occupies almost 900 hectares and has an internal railway system that extends to over 85 km of track work.

We are responsible for testing and maintaining 14,000 fire assets on the site, as well as advising on and installing the most effective fire management systems and providing fire training to all BlueScope Steel personnel.

Specifically, our services include:

Security

• 24/7 security gate operation to ensure that personnel entering the site are authorised to do so.
• Gates and security cameras maintenance

Medical treatment

• First response medical treatment enabled by specialist response vehicle site-patrolling

Safety

• First aid and fire training for all BlueScope Steel personnel
• Fire equipment maintenance, upgrade and installation

Loss prevention

• Loss prevention through illegal activity investigation and prevention activities

Transport

• Transport services for personnel, contractors and visitors with a range of options including bus, car, taxi and chauffer-driven services
