ADF Medical and Dental Supply Chain

Serco has been delivering medical and dental logistic services to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) for over a decade. We manage the process from order entry through to distribution, providing medical equipment fleet repair, maintenance and calibration, as well as the supplying pharmaceuticals and medical consumables across Australia and overseas.

The contract supports all major ADF hospitals, larger area health facilities, Royal Australian Navy ships and approximately 450 other customers. We also extend our support to international ADF military operations.

We ensure Defence units receive the necessary medical and dental supplies within the time required. This can mean working to critically short response times, as when Serco rapidly assembled and supplied medical kits to the ADF as they responded to the Bali bombing, Asian Tsunami, and the 2009 Victorian Bushfires.

Serco’s innovations in this contract include implementation of advanced “Cool Cube” packaging to make our Cold Chain process even more reliable. We also established a national repair and maintenance programme and provided a centralised national database, bringing together information on over 35,000 medical and dental items which we inspect, repair and maintain each year.
